Red Ribbon week words and image of students wearing red.

The Red Ribbon Campaign is the oldest and largest drug prevention program in the nation, reaching millions of young people. Our School celebrates and observes this important initiative with a daily theme for spirit week. We hope to educate our children to be drug free, and encourage them to always find support.

We encourage parents to participate at home by talking to their kids about the importance of being drug free.

International Night takes you around the world in one evening to learn and experience the different cultures within our own Silver Oak school community. This is one of Silver Oak's most popular and fun-filled community events!

Celebrate Our Cultures: International Night at Silver Oak!

Silver Oak’s International Night is one of our most beloved traditions—a vibrant evening where we travel the world together to experience the beautiful expressions of culture within our own school community. We would love for you to be a part of this special celebration!

Country Hosting Overview

When an individual or team volunteers to represent a country at International Night, here is the basic overview of what is involved…

How do the students travel the world?

Grab a bag: Instead of passports (that we have done in past years), we are providing tote bags for students to decorate.

Space: Each country receives 1 full table (2 surfaces). You are required to provide 2 large plastic table covers for these tables.

Displays: Provide at least 1 trifold cardboard display with information about your country. You may choose how to decorate and display what you would like to represent your chosen country.

Activity: Each country is responsible for providing at least one simple cultural activity or craft. It can be as simple as teaching a game popular in that country, drawings kids can color and take with them, quick finger painting, etc.

Food: Cultural food and/or drink samples are not required, but have become a very popular feature of the evening, and definitely enjoyed by all. Please avoid nuts due to allergy concerns. If you must have nuts in your dish(es), you must clearly label the item(s), and specify what nut(s) are present.

Dress: You are not required to dress in cultural attire, however, many representatives choose to do so.

Budget: Since this is a PTO funded event, each country will get reimbursed $175.00. Please save all receipts as you will need to attach them to the reimbursement form that will be sent to the volunteers.

Showcase a Student Performance: Is your student a dancer, musician, or performer? We are looking for students who would like to share a piece of their culture through a stage performance during the event. It’s a wonderful way for our students to shine and share their traditions with their peers.

*To ensure we have enough time to spotlight the many cultures within our school, student performances are limited to those currently enrolled at Silver Oak. We look forward to cheering on our students as they take the stage!

Silver Oak Student Performance Guidelines:

  • To Register: Sign ups closed on April 20

  • Format: Group performances only (minimum 5 Silver Oak students). No solo performances.

  • Details: Please note your performance type and duration (3–5 minutes) in the comments of your country’s table sign-up.

A Special Encore Assembly

The celebration doesn't end that night! To ensure our entire school, students, and staff, gets a chance to see the incredible talent of our students, we will be holding a special assembly the following morning right here at Silver Oak. This assembly will showcase the student performances from International Night for all our staff and classmates to enjoy.

International Night Assembly 5/22/26 at 8:30a.m.

*Any additional details will be emailed directly to those that volunteer to host a country.

For any questions, please contact your International Lead, Navjot Sandhu at navjotsandhu2008@gmail.com.
