HISTORY

Silver Oak Educational Partnership (SOEP) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation in 1995 for the purpose of providing educational and charitable assistance to Silver Oak Elementary School via the support of individuals and businesses in our Evergreen community and the general public.

SOEP and the Silver Oak Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) co-existed within Silver Oak for many years, each supporting and/or funding specific goals and functions for the school. PTA coordinated and executed after-school enrichment programs, language arts volunteer programs, and community events. SOEP focused on funding classroom enrichment programs for all grades in the areas of art, music, technology & science by pursuing corporate sponsorships and parent pledge investments.

In 2013, the Boards of Directors of SOEP & PTA merged their support of the school into one entity to streamline their fundraising efforts and unify all parent support goals for Silver Oak.  Silver Oak Elementary Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) was born as a legal D.B.A. ("doing business as") alias of Silver Oak Educational Partnership, and PTA was dissolved into the SOEP organization.

Silver Oak Educational Partnership (d.b.a. Silver Oak Elementary PTO) exists to support Silver Oak Elementary School in developing and maintaining its heritage of outstanding academic performance. In order to accomplish this, Silver Oak Elementary School partners with and relies on funding from the Evergreen School District and Silver Oak PTO.

With support of the PTO, Silver Oak students participate in a broad range of enrichment programs that help to provide an exceptional educational experience. Our unique partnerships provide a full spectrum curriculum that ranges from common core subjects to specialized enrichment programs and leading edge technology.

To achieve the high standards set by the staff, parents and students of Silver Oak Elementary, the PTO relies on the support of our student families. Silver Oak parents help to ensure the continued success of the school and reap the benefits of a elevated educational experience by supporting the Fall Pledge Drive each year. The availability of corporate matching programs at our student family employers makes it possible for pledge drive supporters to double their contribution via their company's donation match. The pledge drive is our primary source of funding for our yearly investments in program instructors, materials, and equipment.
